I Love the Italian Patisserie furnishing of this quaint little cafe.
It gives me an escape from the usual hustle and bustle cafes in Singapore.
Fulfilling my little fantasy of being out of the country even if it lasts for only a few hours..

Having found my perfect cozy spot, I can't wait to have my first brew of the day and immerse into a complete holiday relaxtion over Brunch.

My selection- The Vert d Osmanthus $8.00/pot
A beautifully crafted sencha that has the enchanting scent of summer-fresh flowers and the taste of ripe nectarines. Maofeng green tea is used as a base for this osmanthus flower blend. Expect slightly grassy notes, a well balances astringency & the subtle yet unmistakable profile of fresh summer nectarines.

I love this tea. It's natural sweetness is brought out with a well balance. Calming and smooth on the palates. I did not have to put in any sugar cubes to sweeten it. This tea will definitely drift to my mind whenever I have future cravings for tea.

All Day Breakfast
I ordered: Poached eggs with Scottish Smoked Salmon $11.50

This dish turned out rather disappointing for me..
$11.50 was the price tag with additional of $3 for poached egg.
What came with this price tag was a portion of simple greens, a slice of plain toast which is halved, 2 poached eggs. There was a generous amount of Smoked Salmon, however, they had marinated it is Capers and olive which does not go well for me to eat with toast. I prefer it to be the regular classic smoked salmon which will be able to round up the poached egg and toast better.
The taste is a hidden mismatch to me and I found it hard to swallow. The greens were browning as well and plain without any dressing.
I will skip this dish for my next visits. I hope that the lackluster standard is only isolated to this dish.
If the same substandard goes for the sandwiches or crepes, I will surely be crestfallen as Antoniette is a brainchild of an much acclaimed chef whom have gotten good reviews for his works.

A beacon of light was shined onto my taste experience with the help of Antoniette's signature cake which is named after it.

Luxuriously smooth, the infusion of Earl Grey Tea and Chocolate brings you a combined feeling of both joy and relaxation.

I built my likings on the rich yet not over-poweringly thick chocolate such as Awfully Chocloate and Max Brenner.

The superior chocolate grade is worth your penny. I presume this is why some people are willing to extend their budget on artisan cakes and patisseries.. Its about indulging in the finer grade ingredients.
A few notches above Canele and Bakerzinn, may be the reason why this cake is priced at $9.00 and deemed worthy.

Other sweets such as cookies, chocolates, Macaroons and other delicate cakes are also available.

During times when you have the spare cash, or perhaps the release of your paycheck, do consider checking out Antoniette.
Antoniette could not be a better spot for you to indulge on a romantic private get-away escaping from the Singapore crowd. A place where you can let time slip while you glaze into each other's eyes tenderly with a pot of tea, feeding on desserts with soft giggles while the Italian Jazz plays in the background.

Singles, don't fret. Having said that this is a romantic spot, it is also a nice place to catch up with a close friend and enjoy the day together over brunch or high-tea.

Chocolate tarts, carrot cakes and muffins are glamorously placed in a dome shaped glass cover and proudly displayed on the cabinet of sinful indulgences.

I lost my focus, undecided at what to order as they are all calling out for my attention!
The thought of a chocolatey good tart which is hard to get is pretty tempting..

and so is my all time favorite carrot cake..

that's not all.. The gigantic cookies are giving me glistering smiles and tempting me...

I glanced up and down, left and right.. undecided.
This is all before the wider selection of Salads and Sandwiches!
I wanted to try out their Sandwiches too, but I was pretty filled up from my breakfast.

After struggling for a couple of minutes, I made my choice...
It's swirls brought me on a holiday in Malibu, and topped it with a crown of glorious white cream with orange zest that served me a cocktail on the beach.
Looking at it and the thought of it just brought me to a fantasy holiday!

Conclusion:
exactly like my dream above. It is tasty yet not heavy. Has a strong character yet appetizing.
I couldn't bear to put down the fork and kept going at it until it vanished within a short interval.

I ordered a Latte to complete the fantasy.

ahhhh~ yes~ boy was it good! Full-bodied. Intense. Aromatic. Heavy but yet brings me up to heaven.
At this instance, how I wish I am better versed in Barista notes to give you a better description of the height of enjoyment at the coffee.
I brought me love together with the foam drawing.

Forty hands has a courtyard area as well, but it can get rather hot from the lack of wind flow.

My preferred seating is indoors with the slightly whimsical contradicting graffiti.

1 of the other reasons why is it fully packed and an idea weekend lazy cafe brunch/high-tea spot despite it being located in a pretty hidden place is because Books actually is just directly opposite it .

I hopped in, browsed around at the vintage stuffs they have on display and for sale, as well as purchased 2 books for my reading pleasure.

I checked back in to forty hands after getting my books and ordered Pear Cider to accompany me through to evening.
The pear cider is not to my liking. I've had better ciders. This did not make it to my re-try list.

I drew out my list and picked ReStore as my 1st stop.

Restore is a new Vintage Furniture Cafe which infuses a relaxing sit back with jazz playing on while you have tasty breakfast and shop at the same time.
Perfect place for getting away from the crowd and just having an alone time with a book or chat with intimate ones

My fave drink is Cafe Latte and It is always my top choice for a lazy afternoon coffee

I read that their bagels are freshly baked and was hoping to try out the Cinnamon Raisin bagel which comes with cream cheese spread at $5.50.

It was a tug between the Bagel and the Waffles.
The waffles gave a hard pull at the last second which drew victory over bagel.
So here's my choice.
I selected the Canadian Waffles served with cream and Maple syrup and topped it with a scoop of homemade Vanilla ice-cream $8.80

While waiting for the waffles to take its form in the waffle mold, the sweet fragrant smell escaped out and filled the whole place with the aroma of fresh breakfast bliss.

Yumz, it was really good! The waffles was done just nice and it was Delicious!
While my mouth and nose were enjoying the Latte and Waffles, my eyes took pleasure and kept themselves entertained with the display of retro looking restored chairs.

The chairs are up for sale, most of it averaging at $200++

The place sits about 20-25 pax

The tables are for sale too!

the menu is very simple and basic with 2 food items- Bagel and Waffles, but its good enough for me ^^

We were Strolling along the stretch of restaurants from Millenia Walk leading to Paulaner.
Our meeting with Bel Mondo was not planned nor expected. It was a casual bump in.
I ordered number 17 listed on the Menu that reads "Linguine with Crabmeat Flambe with Brandy in tomato cream sauce"
Every single word reads Irresistible to me and I just HAD to order it!
The dish came out exactly like I had pictured it to be.
The was generous mass of crabmeat, the sauce was nice with mix of herbs, tomato and cream all mixed in one.
I'm truly satisfied with this order :)
Linguine Al Granchino - $19.00

Mushroom Pizza was ordered to be placed on the table.
It gets a average/fair grading from me.
I like thin crust pizza but the base of this pizza poses a slight difficulty in slicing through.
The portion of Mushroom was inadequate.
Taste wise is ok in a edible term but I would not recommend you to order the pizza here as you can get better ones elsewhere.

Bel Mondo do not spot the best ambience nor setting, but if you happen to be at Millenia walk for a casual dining with your friends and wanting to opt out of having Japanese Cuisine, you can hop in for a feel good pasta to warm your heart and tummy. But other dishes may be a risk that yoiu are willing to bear

Lamb Burger

The Lamb turned out pretty good as compared to my previous experience at their Joo Chiat Branch (refer to below posting). The fries here are also very well and generously flavored.

Pork Cutlet
- along with Curry Flavored Fries
+ Coleslaw

The pork cutlet although thin, packs in a pretty well flavored package. From the look of the very crispy batter and thin dimension, I was worried that the meat would be dry but surprisingly, the pork cutlet was not dry.
Fries is dosed with gracious amounts of curry powder and curry leaves making it very fragrant and authentic.

One Egg Soup
Their one egg soup here is a Major disappointment unlike the one at their Joo Chiat branch. We wanted to reminisce on the delectable taste of the one egg soup from EWF as we recalled from Joo Chiat branch. So, we ordered one bowl each. Guess what? Really sad. The egg is over fried that u can't even break it apart with a spoon. I had to use a knife. Furthermore, it is too creamy and lacks the layers of taste that the other branch has.

Nutella Tart

It's good. But I would say that there is definitely room for this dish to be twigged and brought to greater heights.
Nutella sauce is drizzled and coating over the chocolate body.
Personally, I was thinking that the taste would be even better if they emulsified nutella into the chocolate body rather than just drizzling it over.
This dish on an overall is ok, but there is lots of room for improvement and creativity to give the taste more depth.
note of caution. Please make sure u order this as a item to be shared by 3-4 people. if you were to eat this yourself, its hard to finish it as it gets Gelad.

overall of this branch:
The setting is pretty pleasant, gives you a casual and relax mood.
The mains here meet up to cafe expectation and can be ordered as lunch or dinner. Love the fries here because it packs a punch and makes sense of its brand name "everything with fries" as indeed, fries becomes a Must Order item here.
Desserts are ok for ordering a portion for an experience sharing but not for traveling all the way down just for it.

Hi, we are open daily, take a seat...

I love the white washed walls, black imprints and the crew in faded pink tops which blends well with the interior colors.
I love the simplistic and neat decor.
The ideal setting I would enjoy hanging out with my friends over a light dinner.

My friend strongly recommended the 1 egg soup.
So here it is...

The name of it is simple and direct.
But the complexity and perplexity of it bewildered us.
All of us took time and sip after sip of the soup to try and figure out the ingredients. However, none of us, including myself, managed to decipher the recipe behind it.
We decided to leave it a mystery so that it would continue to excite us if we were to return some other day and order it again.

The egg batter was nicely mixed and fried.
Gives the soup a different texture and adding some fun to the tasting experience.
Oh man, my taste buds and tongue were pretty pleased and had fun with this dish.
My stomach is calling to join in the fun with the growls and pangs.

Our main dishes were served..
Creamy Salmon in a cup
- along with Salt& Vinegar flavored fries

I didn't try out this dish because my friends that tried it commented that It was salty and really creamy. In a negative tint. I decided to give it a pass as neither of the comments were inviting and nor was the look of it.
The portion was small and was really like soup with a few chunks of salmon in it. Full stop.
I felt bad for my friend knowing that this would not fill the stomach. It was also a heartache thinking of the price tagged to the taste and portion of it.

I was keeping my fingers crossed for my dish...
Lamb Burger
- along with sour cream and onion flavored fries

was served before me.
Even though the colors of this dish look pretty decent,
the burger patty was a tad dry. The lamb's smell was evident.
The sauce was tomato and cheese. Not mastery/thought put in it. Even a kid can piece this dish together.
Ok.. I was dissapointed. Although the food can be swallowed down, but I did not savor it.
There is no depth and no effort placed in the dishes.

Ham and cheese Sandwich.
This dish came out Safe.
Decent tasting.
But again, how wrong can ham and cheese go?

I wanted to try out the Nutella tart which many had raved about, but missed it out in the end.

overall of this branch:
I love the decor, I would love to have a cuppa coffee on a weekend afternoon and relaxing here chatting with my friends.
The food was below expectation. Even though they had the concept of flavored fries, they did not master it or bring out the essence of it.
The fries were ordinary. If I was to chose, I would actually chose MacDonald's fries over this.
In all due fairness, the reviews I had read about everything with fries is mainly on their cakes and tarts.
I MAY come back again to try out their tarts and Definitely the 1 Egg soup. But not the mains.

Fries is not flavored enough and thus tastes very plain Jane.

The difference in food tastes and standards between both branches are not maintained to be same. No Quality Check. Over-rated. Patrons of EWF should not have high expectations but maintain it as being a Cafe and serving Cafe standard food.

China ware of such good grade, history and establishment to be put as Royalty grade.
Now now, how about having this Royalty experience over high-tea?
There can't be a better combination than this!
I invited myself together with my Tai-Tai grade colleague to have a taste of high-tea on fine tea set and evaluate if the food deserves the same ratings as its tableware.

High-tea set of 2 is priced at a relatively high tag of $29.90, but we decided to go ahead with the order since we came down mentally prepared on an splurging high-tea extravagance.

the set includes the below for 2 people sharing:

- 1 cup of tea each (non-refillable)

- 2 pieces of "open face" Shrimp and Tuna sandwiches.
*option to make any adjustments to this arrangement such as not wanting to have Tuna, is not permitted.
I made a inquiry if I could have other option over Tuna (since my colleague is on a avoid tuna diet). Even though the response was polite, it showed how inflexible and inattentive they are to the dinner's dietary restrictions.
Having a F&B background, I was not impressed with the operations. Nevertheless, I still kept an open mind about the taste of the food.

The taste was pleasing. The mini shrimp is crunchy and clear. Both the Shrimp and Tuna swims in your mouth without bringing along any hints of fishiness.
The tuna was lightly seasoned with pepper, cucumber and tomato cubes . The way I like food to be; simple, light and yet tasty.

- 1 slice of Quiche

baked with flaked salmon, spinach and potato
This is pretty satisfactory too with the right baking time and moisture density.
It carries the same preparation style as the Sandwiches. Tasty but light.

- 1 slice of cake (selection of any cake from the fridge)

we were kindda undecided and randomly picked the Green Tea cake as our option.

I didn't enjoy this cake the least bit.
Too dense. A tad too sweet for my liking. Did not bring out the flavors well.
It tasted like a sugared green mash to me

- 2 plain scones
served with a platter of whipped cream, blueberry jam and butter.

They are famous for their scones.
Verdict = Passed the expectation. But not SURpassing the expectation.
was I wow-ed by it? I will describe my expression to answer on this question.
When take a bite of the scone with the spreads, I gave a light smile with my eyes shrinking to 3/4 of its original. It did not gave a reaction where my eyelids were lifted up to its highest point.

Royal Copenhagen was previously located at Shaw Centre. It has shifted its business to Takashimaya and occupying a hidden space in the departmental store next to Burberry.
Pry your eyes wide as this place is easily missed.

There is constantly a Queue there and blooming business with full house on weekends. Do come prepared to join the Queue for a seating space.
Waiting time for a table is averaging 15-20mins for weekends.
Waiting time for the food to be served is averaging 10-15mins.

If you have extra cash to throw away on a food expense splurging or if the average denomination of notes you have in your wallet is $100 and a mini bites food tasting expenditure of $20 is nothing to you. Than yes, why not just enjoy a Tai-Tai high-tea without worries for the word "value for money" and than continue shopping and pop by a fine restaurant for dinner shortly after.

You may think that my sentiments of the costing seems on the exaggerated side seeming as though i'm implying that one have to be a millionaire to dine here.

But what I mean to express is the "not worth it" feeling of a high-tea here. yes, if I am really rich, I may pop by here rather frequently and casually.

Well, currently, I am at a status of comfortable and ok to splurge hundreds on dining, but I will opt adding on another $10++ and having high-tea buffet at 5-star hotels or spending 20% lower costs to have better quantity and refillable tea.

overall verdict:
Satisfactory, Good tasting. Have quality over food. Quantity is petite. Nice for picture and 1 time experience. Don't feel tempted to return unless I'm a frequent shopper at Takashimaya Departmental Store and generous to spend the bucks to rest my feet over a small cup of tea which is finished over few mouthfuls.

My friends like the Caesar Salad here as it is very light on the dressing.
However, my preference slants towards stronger flavors. If your preference is on salads with light dressing, you will enjoy this alot. I still enjoyed this as the bacon bits was really crispy and tasty.

Grilled Salmon Steak drizzled with Lemon Sauce

we ordered it to be done Medium.The dish came out nicely done. With the skin of the salmon pan fried to a nice crispy crust, and the salmon meat pink and Juicy. The flavors for the juice is full bodied while The lemon sauce gives it refreshing tinge and clears it away. Making you want to return for more

Lamb Shank

My Likes about this dish:
- The Mash potato is Smooth and Buttery
- The Radish is well simmered, tasty and soft
- The sauce is bold yet not overwhelming
texture wise, it is not the best Lamb shank I have had, but satisfactory.

Overall, a satisfactory dining experience. it is a Fabulous place for friends and family to hang-out and bond with laughter over a casual, comfortable dining.

I Love the decor of American Deli with Rock and Rolling tunes playing from the Jukebox, neon signage, metallic ceiling. it transports me out of Singapore and into Old New York.

Price is on the high side of averaging $27 for the mains, and $9 for the drinks.

But with the AMEX Platinum card promo, the bill came out to be easy to the pocket.

our total bill after discount and GST+svc charge came up to $57. Me and my friends will definitely be back for more while the promotion is still in place.

I Dig this dish. To bring out the optimum freshness of seafood is to cook in in sea salt. With seafood so fresh, using the simple way of preparation by cooking it in sea salt, garlic and kelp, brings out the flavours of Ocean into our mouth. Burstful of Ocean freshness. Wild!

4) Baked Oysters
Did I mention that I have a phobia towards Oysters?
Now, let me tell you that the Oysters here is so fresh that it wiped out my skeptical attitude and made me consume a couple of it.

5) Twin Kebab Skewers- 1 stick of chicken, 1 stick of salmon
The Salmon Kebab is worth mentioning.
the salmon is still pink in the middle while the sides are nicely charred. It takes skill and control to master the art of Salmon to be nicely done. For skewers, the fire have to be really strong so that the exterior gets quickly charred, leaving the middle of salmon still nice and pink, not forgetting the constant rotating of the skewer for the heat to be distributed evenly on all sides and not burning it.

6) Baked Lobster
The Lobster is still firm and springy, removes easily from the shell. Perfectly done.
Chefs and foodies out there, Need I say more?

7) Deep fried Calamari

the costs:

Hot seafood platter $89
a bottle of house wine Angove Chardonnay $39

the food is worth every penny.
It joyful, satisfied experience of having tummy full of nicely done fresh seafood, defeats the impact on the wallet.

I'll definately be back again when I have the cash to indulge ;)

I like their salty vegetable, well proportioned level of saltiness, makes the dish appetizing

The highlight is on their KWAY.
the Kway's texture is perfect. Springy yet breaks when chewed.

It is also very thin that you can see your chopstick through a layer of the Kway.

In Kway chap, the most important role is played by the Kway.
The ingredients are normally about the same tasting, but to get good Kway is hard to find.

Do consider trying my favorite Guo Tie which is 2-3 stalls from here.

The Childhood memories..
The familiarity of the smell, the taste and the environment that brings me back to the time I 1st met Mr. Pig Trotters.
He is medium built, all muscled up and not fatty. His body nicely tanned and well proportioned.

He than introduced me to his sister, Ms. Bak Kut Teh. On 1st encounter, she puts on a peppery attitude, but when u get to know her better, she brings out the sweetness and fragrance of a well simmered broth.

I count it my blessing to know them. Since than, I have not met another other siblings as well liked.

I have my share of Bak Kut Teh's and pig's trotters. Yes, including the few Bak Kut teh stalls along the stretch of Balestier (including founders), Sin Ming, etc.. but I still turn back to this stall.
Although BKT and Pig's trotters is a dish which is branded as a Local delight and widely available throughout coffee shops, food courts, and restaurants, but I find it hard to find any which meets my satisfaction level.

Eng Kee's BKT+pig's trotter's is like a comfort zone for me. I know that it is able to satisfy my cravings, not put on too much calories on my body, and not cause much impact to my wallet.
I would not dispute that there are possibly better ones out there. But this is by far, the better one that I have tried and scores well for Both of the dishes.
If you happen to live in the North, do consider checking this place out.
PS: waiting time for Queuing and food to be served is around 20mins. They are closed at night, so, visit them in the late morning or during lunchtime to avoid leaving the hawker centre with an empty stomach

Halia Restaurant- Dining in lush greenery

I tracked down Halia as an optimum choice for a fine dining experience with a live jazz band for my friend's Dad's birthday dinner.

Halia is situtated in a perfect spot amidst lush greenery without the greetings from bugs.
The atmosphere is fantastic. Perfect as a romantic dinner location. But be sure to come with a thick wallet. Fine dining never comes cheap.

Starters: Foie Gras with spring roll
perfectly done.
not over cooked, not raw. Fatty and fresh, not gelad.

I'm posting this post as part of my tummy log. Not going to say too much on it as I don't recall the names of the dishes and didn't get to taste much.
But to sum it up, the starters and mains are really good. The chef is really skilled and experienced, therefore able to control the temperature and cooking time of the meats very well.
I guess this is also why people in the high society often dines in fine dining restaurants, not just for the fact that they can afford it, but also most importantly is the attention and dedication that goes into the dish.

Desserts are not their strong point. I could easily get better desserts elsewhere. So, do give the desserts a skip to lessen the impact on your wallet.

Overall, a great dining experience mainly from the ambiance, great service and chef's culinary skill on the meats. But for the costs of it, I don't see myself returning here unless it is for very special occasions where I have set aside the budget

Dim Sum screams excitement for a whole lot of people especially those born with Chinese taste buds. I'm influenced with the English fare but would never forget and often reminisce on foods derived from the Chinese origin.

The Piping hot steamed pork dumpling that oozes sweet soup with a light prick in the skin.
Slurpy good especially when accompanied with sliced ginger soaked in vinegar.

The Wasabi Prawn.
I've had bad experience with a similar dish served at Chinese banquets by chefs who try to imitate the innovation of fusion cuisine but failed at it. So, I was rather skeptical at trying this dish. But upon a third persuasion by my friend, I decided to give it a try..
my verdict.. yes, its rather good and interesting. But make sure u try your Wasabi prawn dish at renowned restaurants like here to have good memories of it.

Fried Cheese Dumplings.
- cheese is wrapped around the sticky glutinous rice ball dough and than deep fried and lightly dusted with sugar powder.

Fried Spring Rolls

Braised Chicken Feet

Steamed Prawn Dumpling
the prawns are really fresh, sweet and succulent.
This dish would be perfected with a slightly thinner skin, but is ok on a overall and still gets a passing mark from me.

Abalone Siew Mai
Yes! It is really mini abalone on top of the Siew Mai
The abalone is done well that it retains its natural flavors and easily chewed.
well done on this dish!

Chicken Soy Sauce noodles
a tad too oily and a slight disspointment on the taste. It is not horrible but I would suggest you to make good use on your tummy space by trying out other dishes instead.

Char Siew slices.
Tasty and not oily. 1 of the dishes that you should order.

Pan fried carrot cake:
- the thing about spending more on carrot cakes which is 1/3 the portion of a regular plate of carrot cake lies in the texture.
the reason behind people being willing to spend the bucks is the authenticity of the food ingredient. One gets to feel the real texture of fine hand shredded radish in the Pan fried carrot cakes served in Chinese Restaurants.
This dish is simple and real.

The crab and spinach soup in light chicken broth
my kind of soup.

Sweet and sour soup.
Pretty good as well. Tasty but not overwhelming.

The Dim Sum high tea buffet here is pretty decent and not as pricey imagined.
They adjust the price quite often, so do your research or give them a call for a pricecheck.
But the price at this time when i ate is $32-$36++, the average total cost is about $40 per pax

Salty Mr. Brown with Ms Strawberry Shortcake
Salty Mr. Brown was not salty enough and therefore lacks the expected Ummphh to it. Brownie is average. I have recently developed a liking for Salted caramel or salty ice-cream/desserts. Was rather disappointed on its taste.
Ms Strawberry shortcake is not sweet like the cartoon character. The strawberry used is still unripe and sour, without any tinge of sweetness from the fruit bits.

Peppermint side by side with Sesame. Black or White?

Peppermint is Ok, safe. Would prefer it is green peppermint colour though.
Sesame is quite rich, but swings towards a higher sugar ratio.

How I felt about Daily Scoop:
The service is good, the staff are friendly and more than willing to accede to your tasting requests.
The quality and taste of the ice-cream falls short than expected. I did not expect it to be very good, but at least satisfactory to my requirements. Taste wise, Daily scoops is unable to meet my expectations.
Im quite a fan and critic for ice-creams and desserts so forgive me for my harsh review.

the interior is fun and friendly. If i was still a student, I think I will patronize Daily scoops for a nice not too crowded after school hang-out spot to laugh and chat with my friends.
But as a working adult and a foodie, I am sorry, but I doubt I will come back again as there are far better ice-cream joints out there like Udders and Island Creamery that is a better worth of my bucks

It's my friend's birthday.
I was looking for a place which is rather special, in a laid back environment and serves good food.
I was thinking of Holland Village as the hang-out location.
Mykii popped into my head. So after reading up the latest reviews and making sure it was almost full-proof, I decided Mykii to be THE restaurant to head to.

it was mad rush for me that morning. I didn't have lunch, so when I browsed through the menu, I set my mind on the Mains over their weekend Brunch.

Pot Roasted Chicken with Almond and Olive Pilaf sounded comforting to me.
The thought of slow cooked chicken with a melt in the mouth texture, served over rice is simply enticing and absorbed my attention.
Here it is..
I seldom finish the full portion of rice that I have.
however,
for this dish, even though the serving is very generous and is easily able to feed 1 and 1/2 lady's appetite, I find it hard to rest my fork and let the remaining go to waste.
It is so appetizing and delectable that I could not stop my go at it

The chicken is moist, and tender from the slow cooking process, exactly like how I pictured and wished for it to be.
Tomato based and olive based sauce made the dish appetizing
the grain by grain rice stirs fragrance in your mouth.
I will definitely come back for this dish. I'm craving for it already!

BBQ Baby back ribs is average. Same tasting as other joints that serves ribs. Nothing fanciful about it. A dish which you will finish but not crave for.
The mash potato mixture u see below (contained in glass) is a minus point of this dish. It is a rather unappealing combination which me and my friends do not appreciate. It was left untouched after the 3rd tablespoon.

Thai-style chicken on French Pastry.
The outer coating of the chicken has a burst of flavors from the spices and packs a crunch.
The chicken meat is a tad dry for me. however, my friend who had this dish enjoyed it alot. She commented that she loves the crispy coating with the meat.
I guess it comes to individual preferences. Some tends to love the drier parts of chicken meat like breast meat whereas some love the juicy and tender parts like the thigh/drumstick. I am for the latter so this dish gets only a passing mark from me.

I did not get to try out the signature dishes and desserts which they are famous for as my goal here is to celebrate a friend's birthday rather than food reviewing.
But I decided to post this review anyways as It is nevertheless, a ideal Brunch/lunch/dinner location with loved ones

Im a fan of Mykii's interior design and concept.
The atmosphere is relaxing with the playing of jazz vibes in background and lighted with warm lighting.
I'll wanna Brunch here on a lazy weekend,
have dinner here on a tiring weekday night to sooth my soul and tummy.

Im becoming a fan of Mykii... I'll be back here..
till than we meet again...
I will have a closer encounter with u when I return and sink my teeth into the nutella squares with salted caramel!

If you love eggs. This is the right place to be in.
Hatched serves all-day breakfast with a menu ranging from boiled, poached, Benedict, fried, baked, omelette, Sunny-side-up to scrambled eggs.
Which ever way you like your egg to be, Hatched is sure able to met fulfill your egg desires.
I love to explore dining places which is rather inaccessible and serves food which satisfies my tastebuds.
Hatched is located @ Evans lodge which is a rather nice quaint quiet place for Brunch.

Waffle with scoop of Sea Salt caramel ice-cream
Pancakes

their Egg mains are good. They have indeed uphold integrity of eggs by mastering the culinary skills well. The Poached and Scrambled eggs are done pretty well and able to meet the egg critic's expectations.
For its price range, I would fare it as a well worth Brunch if you have a budget of approx $12-$16 to spend on the mains.

Their Desserts are however not deserving of the price quoted. The Waffle and the Pancakes are estactically well done, however still not up to mark in terms of skills and taste. Room for improvement.
It tastes fair. Not worth investing on, but can order to give it a try. But if it is a pondering choice over a selection of Pancakes or Waffles. Go for the Waffles instead.

A pointer: They do not serve ice caffe latte on the menu, but when they agreed to do it, I was thinking it would taste quite bland. Surprisingly, it turned out to be really silky rich and by far one of the best latte i had in s'pore. Hopefully it would remain this way the next time I order it again =)

Being a fan of Ramen, I have tried the different soup bases such as shoyu and tomato etc.. but my fave soup base is still the pork based soup (Tonkotsu)
My self initiated food preference easily pointed to the option of Char Siew Ramen- Roast Pork noodles in Tonkotsu Soup.

The soup base is really flavourful. The Char Siew portion came generously and has a good marbling of fats. I have to tell you that I'm never keen on fatty food and would remove the fats from meats. However, this is an exception and makes it a worthy guilt journey.

I am always elated to see eggs like the above, where it is considered as hard boiled egg but still with a semi runny yolk.
Having my desired egg as a topping for my Ramen brings excitement to me. And i swear i was going "Wooaa!" at the sight of my Ramen being brought to my eye view. Followed by a prolonged "uummmmMmmmmm..." upon tasting it.

Egg Omelette
- i love this dish, i practically finished this whole dish by myself
They throw in some finely sliced spring onions in the omelette mixture. This brings a fragrance and refreshing taste to the dish.
The other reason why I applaud it is because it was skillfully cooked to perfection with the skin looking brown and crispy but yet the texture is slightly runny. The way I like it.

The Ramen surprising surpasses my expectations. So much so that I will be willing to make a 1 hour trip from my home all the way over to Jurong Point for this Ramen.

point to note: Menichi is a sister establishment from Ichiban Sushi.
They DO serve part of Iciban sushi's menu over at Menichi since they are located side by side. To be fair to Menichi, I will say that their Char Siew Ramen and Egg Omelette is indeed very good. However, if the other reviewers have reviewed on Menichi based on the Ichiban Sushi food menu, Menichi's review might be affected and dragged down.
I am also leaving an open comment on their other Ramens since I only tried 1 of it.

Banana Chocolate cake with scoop of Vanilla Ice-cream
- Choc & Banana is 1 of the great combination of flavours that the market is introducing and growing big on. The Banana Choc cake over here is done very well.
With the cake being moist and the banana melts in your mouth but not being too heavy or wet on the cake. Vanilla ice-cream gives a temporary wipe from the boastful flavour and creating a desire and lust for that sinful choc

Strawberry Shortcake
- not a fan of it. Gives discredit to strawberry shortcakes.
nothing commendable about this. In fact, it is a waste of bucks for anyone purchasing it.

Dark chocolate with Himalayan Pink Salt
- This gets the thumbs up and Yumz from me. Interesting is the word that rings in my mind. Savoury follows suit on the next thought of it.
Yet another great combination out in the market of combining chocolate with salt.
But they do it well over here, im normally not a fan of Sweet+Salted taste in 1, however this gets the green light from me. It may be the salt they use. Unlike seasalt, this has a subtle tinge of saltiness and is really fine in texture. It rolls the flavour of tinge saltiness and bittersweet chocolate into 1. Nice!

Cream Cheese Carrot Cake
- Carrot cakes are my number 1 love for cakes. I would Not say the 1 here is Ubber Fantastic, but it is good enough to meet my expectations.

What better place to jump into a Whimsical land with the company of Sweets for my tooth?
Great place to hang out for a Lazy afternoon and chat with friends.

not recommended for a huge group though as seats are limited.
But a 4 man gang will fit in snugly.

Their Apple Pie is a Must-try. If you love Cinnamon, this will have you licking the paper cup clean. However, if you run away fro mthe mention of Cinnamon, than you should run away from this too.

Also tried their Rum & Raisin and Horlicks.
The Rum & Raisin is ok, but gets gelad. I stopped at the 6th spoonful of it.
The Horlicks is terrible for me, it has a taste similar to coconut and I am an enemy to Coconut. I stopped at the 3rd spoonful of it.

I will not recommend people to specially go down to Shaw Towers to try out Tom's Palette, but if you happen to pass by, U Can consider trying their Apple Pie or taste test the other flavours which I have yet to try.

Perhaps it could also be Udders, Island Creamery and Ice-Kimo that has pulled my standards up for ice-creams

Babi Guling in Bali

On my honeymoon trip to Bali, I stayed in Ubud... I've read abt the legendary Babi Guling (Pork) rice that resides in the not-so-crowded Ubud area... And so I made it a point to go try...

Legendary Ibu Oka's "Babi Guling" rice @ Ubud

The stall was hard to miss as it as the most packed food joint in Bali...

Apparently, locals are charged lower for the food here and get a bigger portion of meat... Which i think it's reasonably since tourists have more disposable income to spend...

Here it is! Bali Guling Special Rice! ("Special" coz it's portion for one, with a portion of the meat + crispy pig skin + veg, smacked on top of your rice.. "Non-special" means you order dishes and rice separately to share...)

You can see the crispy pig skin in the pic below... It's so crispy I thought the fillings in my tooth was gonna come off when I tried to crunch it....

I don't think it's as yummy as it's hyped up to be.... :P

Not worth travelling up to Ubud for it, but if you'e staying in Ubud, just go try...

i told myself,ok, im gotta try a mouthful of it, just the edge.
After the 1st scoop, i thought, hhmm.. doesn't kill to finish 1/2.
By the time i reach half mark, there is no turning back and i HAD to Race to the finishing line.

Calpis is a renowned and commercial Yogurt.
I am a fan of Calpis, so i bought the below pack of Calpis candy which is in assortment of 4 flavours (original Calpis, Orange, Grape & Strawberry)
quite sad that it did not turn out like i wished it would. The presence of Yogurt is mild in this.

My fave from this stall is still their Soup version.
so i ordered the below Soup Mixed beef Kway Teow

their soup is very tasty and the salted vegetable and Chinchalok brings it to a greater height.
The meat and tendons are stewed to perfect tenderness and had absorbed in the flavor of the stew.
I LOVE this beef kway teow stall.
I have tried several "famous" ones including the 1 in Ang Mo Kio and Toa Payoh
Nothing beats this, except for maybe the one in Old Airport road (which is too far and inconvenient for me)

I do not have much to say except "try it!" and you will know what i am experiencing.

PS: U may like to try out the Rojak in the same coffeeshop too.
Quite good
ingredients- Starfruit, green apple, raw mango, jellyfish, you tiao, tulip, Jambu, cucumber, etc.. Not that cheap though, starting price at $3.50 (if im not wrong) but worth a try to share amoungst your friends.

Ice-cream is my Joy-Food of all time.
besides Udders, this is the 1 other place which i hang-out in.
It is just 10 mins walk away from my office.
Not crowded, making it a nice place to just relax and sit back with friends or colleagues to chat and enjoy good ice-cream in a comfy air-conditioned environment.
It's my kind of place.
It may not be THE BEST, but will be ranked 3rd on my list after Island Creamery and Udders. I feel that it is good enough. It is also cheaper in comparison.

their waffle is the crispier kind and quite light. I enjoyed it =)

the below is called VERY DURIAN where the fresh durian flesh in "Kiap" in between the waffle and topped with a Scoop of Durian Ice-cream.
Wow! Indeed VERY Duriany!
Even if the Durian ice-cream do not satisfy you, im sure the durian flesh will add marks to the lacking areas.
Overall a balanced Durian dish. Frankly speaking, the durian ice-cream is not that strong in flavour, but it gives a balance to the strong Pow Wow Durian flesh.
So i would stil give this dish a passing mark and worth trying if you like Durians

I was feeling quite down and out after a long day at work and am craving for some Salmon Sashimi and Cheer-up food.
I brought the below food at the Japanese sushi section in Ang Mo Kio Hub Fairprice Xtra.

Salmon Sashimi- $5.80

Sushi Don- $6.00

sure is a reasonable cheer-up food for me! The satisfaction of a healthy, tasty meal pleased my tummy and soul.

Uno Beef House- Tucked away in a hidden housing area but a name well know to many. It has received many newspapers food reviews

It serves quite an array of western food dishes such as spaghetti, beef stew, steaks, fish & chips etc..

The Fish & Chips, by far the BEST that Kara ever had and an investment of some worthy calories from fried food.
Kara & I are similar in our food choices in a way that we do not sacrifice having fats to our body with fried food unless it is for a worthy cause (really tasty food)

It is coated with Breadcrumbs instead of the usual batter, categorizing it as a Genre of Fish & Chips to my liking as I'm not a fan of the usual Batter which tends to taste floury, Gelad and uncooked.

From their food, you can feel that they really put in their Heart in the preparation.
The Coleslaw is made with Carrots, Cabbage, Onion. The usual western food joints in coffee shops are only bothered to do the standard coleslaw which consists of only shredded cabbage and nothing else.
One of the other reason why their fish & Chips is a GoGo is becos it is rare to get such fresh fish which flakes nicely in clear layers for fish & Chips.

I ordered the Rib-eye beef Steak
The taste of the dish on an overall is enjoyable, not the best though, but it has meet and surpass slightly in the scale of my expectation for a coffee shop western food stall.
What i appreciate about this dish is the Sauce which is one of the other things which really made me feel the owner's passion in the preparation.
The sauce is unique to Uno beef house. Stewed in-house. It has a tinge of tomato taste which makes the dish appetizing. The meat is cooked just nice as i had wanted it to.

They have created their own signature Potato ball which is rolled into a nice ball and fried to golden brown but still retaining the moisture and texture of mash potato within.

Overall pleasing experience. Not one that will WOW me to the extent where i will crave for it everyday. But good enough to be on my list of "im craving for some western food, where shd i go?" Worth popping by if you happen to be in the vicinity

Just Dim Sum

The Dim-sum is good. Most of the dishes are very tasty. We all had immediate craving for more and was so tempted to come back here again the next day.
It is really affordable as well with average cost of $2-$3 per basket.

If you are looking for a Dim-sum place whichs is affordable and you do nto mind it being located in an non-air conditioned coffee shop, this is definitely the place to go.

I am quite a fan of Dim-sum but over the years i had not found one that really satisfied my expectation, until i found Just Dim Sum.

This beats The Dim-sums i had at China Square Central, Fortunate Restaurant, Yum-Cha Restaurant, Changi (next to Changi Hotel), Bao Jin Tian a.k.a Bao-today (Marina Square) and many others where the names i no longer recall.

It is also a novelty concept Dim-sum where they have Wasabi Har Kaow etc.

The Mango roll is the only dish which i felt slightly dissapointed about, It is not fried well, the coating is too soft.

The below dish is a MUST-TRY!
try and you will than understand what i mean.

im not a fan of Wasabi so i gave this dish a miss, but i heard from my family that the taste of wasabi is not prominent in this, but overall still tastes Ok for Har Kaow.

I love the below Cabbage roll. Natural sweetness from cabbage and fresh prawns. Healthy and delectable =] the colours make a pretty presentation

Give the Chee-Cheong fan a miss. Not worth the tummy space. It is just a passing mark from me.

The Carrot cake below is one of their novelty creations. Should try this dish as u may not get it elsewhere. Tastes like chinese Nian Gao

Not ALL the dishes are Damn good.
but NONE is bad.
Overall enjoable experience.
Some dishes will be hhmm, not bad/ok. While some will invoke a WOW factor.
Worthy Try!

Lamb Shank

The lamb shank is a Huge portion fit for a queen.
The meat is stewed to perfect tenderness. The wild mushroom sauce compliments and brings another depth of flavor to the lamb.
I will definitely crave for this and come back for more if given a chance ;)

The sauce is done with a balance in flavors. The round kneaded dough pieces reminds me of the "teochew abacus (xuan pan zhi)" so i term this dish as my Ang Moh Xuan Pan Zhi with fresh seafood.

nice in general, but a little pity is the overload of the buttery taste. Think it would taste great if less butter was being used.

Black Pepper Crab... who can resist the luxury and seduction of it?
The thought of holding on the the plump crab claw , and exploring the sweet tasting white fresh crab meat underneath the spicy tangy black pepper. It tantalizes your taste buds and creates a experience which most people term as "SHOIK!"

The Black pepper crab here tastes quite different from the other black pepper crab you get elsewhere. It is spicy with the black pepper, but there is another tastes to it which differentiates from the other competitors. I can't make out the ingredients they use. U will get a better thought of it after trying it out.

- reminds me of pink panther.
Pink but not the least shy.
Beneath it is the Dark coloured and moist chocolate which fills your taste buds with the chocolaty goodness.

- There was no trace of rose essence.
Passion fruit flavor was quite evident.
I believe it would bit be less disappointing if they had name it as passion fruit cupcake

- the story goes like this...
i walked past a stall with blue signboard, if my memory serves me right, stall name should be Ah Lam. Their last food item on the menu says: "stewed Rice with Beef"
They did not display any pictures of their food at all..
Thinking that Stewed rice is the dark coloured rice (like beef stew colour and taste) i interpreted the dish to be that way with slices of beef on the top.
Interesting~ i thought to myself. So i had a urge to try it out!
I told the mandarin speaking auntie "Stewed Rice with Beef"
auntie: "ah, Beef Mui Fan ah?!"
Me : (caught by surprise) Ah?! oh... orh.. ok?"

i walked back to my table sulking with disappointment at having a "common" food and the irony of it all.

The dish came..
Turns out to be the BEST Mui Fan i ever HAD!
Hahaahaha
The stock used does not have the strong MSG taste which u get from most Mui Fan in Ze Char stalls. In fact, it was pleasant with the light, flavourful, reminds you for grandmother's cooking, kind of taste.
The Beef is the main part of the dish, the beef is well stewed, it is soft and the stew had seeped into every corner of the beef and marinated it.
$4.50 which gives a portion fit for 2 seems a worthy deal
I recommend you to put this as one of the "Must tries" if you are there

Spicy La La
- from the 1st BBQ Seafood stall on the left of the entrace to the food centre
My gosh! the worst and most ripped-off LALA i ever had!
My friend ordered a $10 portion and this was what came out!
Furthermore, The chili is not fit to be named chili. It is just spicy, there is no taste of the depth of spicy, sweet, salty ad fragrance
DON'T TRY! or risk regretting!

Satay, Ok the taste is Ok,
maybe im not a huge satay fan, so not fair for me to rate this dish.
But 1 point i like about this dish is that they had pineapple puree in the satay sauce.

Guo Tie
- White signboard, sells steamed dumplings and pan fried dumplings.
this dish is recommended by my Auntie Colleague whom is a foodie.
She says she would always ask them to make it Crispier.
So this is the 1st and main item i was looking out for in the food centre.
I ordered the Pan-Fried Guo Tie and adding a remark "make it Crispier" and it was well received by the stall holder.
Came out nicely done as what i had wished for it to turn out.
Main parts of the skin is Crispy, leaving white corners.
The lean pork and chive filling is hot and juicy, there is no trace of porky taste at all!
They also provide a generous share of finely shreded ginger in vinegar.
Yum Yumz!

nice and refreshing. The Honeydew balls burst with sweet honeydew essence in your mouth
Mango, Strawberry ice
a generous heap of mango and strawberry cubes, topped with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream, creates a mountain on top of shaved ice drizzled with gula melaka syrup.
when you scoop the top layer, there is a sweet and tangy zest mellowed with ice-cream.
when u explored the bottom layer, u will go "eh?" becos you will taste a some what Chendol flavor becos of the gula melaka

- the name says it all

Yam Glutinous with Grass Jelly
- Tastes like blended Pulut Hitam topped with Grass Jelly
could not taste the yam. Slimy texture.
Nice as i am quite fond of Pulut Hitam. But if you do not like slimy texture food, you should not try this as you may drop your spoon after a mouthful.
The portion is quite huge though, so gets Ge Lad when nearing the cup base

Hand-Shredded slow roasted pork, drizzled with Tangy light BBQ sauce.
Delectable. Flavorful yet light tasting, without the feel of being Ge-Lad
Sandwich crust eludes a light crunch and reveals a soft moist bread
Crunchy lettuce and tomato brings a balance to the meat.

Shitake Mushroom soups shows traces of Shitake chunks in mini satisfying bite-sizes. Light in texture unlike the usual thick creamed mushroom soups in other places.
This soup review will be dependable on individual preferences.
If you are one that loves the *Pow Wow Bang* thick and very flavourful soup, than this may fall as short to what you are looking for.
However, if you are one that prefers for food to be tasty but on the light side, think you will find this soup pleasing to your taste palettes.

Great combination and blend of Cranberry sponge cake layered with white chocolate

Food for Thought is one of my faves. It is a great place for a close cozy catch-up and get togethers. Small cafe that sits about 16 people, tucked away in town. It is opposite Bras Basah Complex.

The reasons i love food for thought:

Cozy Bistro Cafe with a homey old-fashion look with a touch of modern creativity
they play jazz songs, and on the occasion when i went, they play OLIVIA ONG!! =D my fave jazz singer!
They serve the community with the profits they earn
The intricate and detailed thought they put into every single thing in this cafe, from the branding to the decor, menu and furnishing, especially love their self designed postcards.

The other Main reason why i love this little cafe is the Great service attitude of the staff/owners there. Their warmth and passion they possess for this cafe spreads through their service experience with you.

to me, great service adds to the overall experience and rating of a place. They determine if the customer will give a thumbs-down, a passing mark or a Thumbs-up.

Definately a place which i would return to. Whenever im thinking of a nice cozy cafe for a hang-out, food for thought never fails to surface in my consideration.

A pity they are closed on sunday, hope they can open for at least the evening period on sunday so that i can have dinner with my group of friends that love food for thought as well

Innovative ideas are blooming out by the young Thai entreprenuers, bringing the usual fare of Mango Sticky rice and all things Mango, up a few notches to a boutique Mango Cafe

I chanced upon Mango Tango.. being a sucker for cafes, i had to go in and check it out!

Couldn't resist ordering the below Mango Sticky Rice (comes with a scoop of refreshing Mango Sorbet)

Their Menu consists of a huge variety of desserts/drinks with all things Mango

I visited Vietnam abt 4 months ago (for the 1st time in my life) and it was during that trip that I abandoned all pre-conceived prejudice I have towards the cuisine. Well, there's a good reason why I'm not pro-viet food, coz like many other Singaporeans, Thai food's the way to go for our spicy tastebuds and we tend to think Viet food is dull and tasteless.

Not that I had alot of great tasting Viet food during my trip but I sure had some pretty decent tasting meals there. So when I came back, I checked out some Viet food restaurants and found out that u can count the no. of them with one hand. :P

Anyways, I visited Va Va Voom for the 2nd time since my Viet trip and this time I brought Yyn along...

If i'm gonna pay $4.50 to eat @ a food court nearby, I would gladly top up another $1.50 to eat @ Va Va Voom... At least it spares me the squeezing and pressure of eating quickly @ the food court... :P

It's been over a month since i've been to Udders but was pretty caught up to write about it.
We tried Chempedak, Rum and Raisin, Tiramisu flavours etc...

What can i say. Don't bother so much, just GO!!!
Its fantastic! Every flavour is just bursting with richness and authenticity!
If you are undecisive, just get the staff to let you try out the flavours, but word of caution though, you may end up even more confused as all the flavours are to die for!

Really, Definately worth trying!
Its a ice-cream place, i will not talk too much about it except that they have a good concept, nice location, great tasting quality ice-cream, nice decor.

This is more of a grab eat and go place as it tends to be quite populated at times, making it quite Squeezy to hang-out.

Udders is really good. Can be equally rated with Island Creamery

We tried 5 to 6 flavours. Nothing fanciful. It isn't BAD, but i won't say it is GOOD either.
The Alcoholic flavours lack the Ummph factor. It is bland and i did not feel that there was any liqueur added.
Other flavours were not impressive as well. All lack the flavour. Tastes more of milk in all.
therefore, i would not recommend for anyone to try out this place.
I guess this also explains why it is so isolated and empty on the many occasions that i pass by as well as on a Friday evening itself.

* if you are looking for a quiet place to discuss some project or to hang around with your friends for games and chat, this place is OK venue for that. Keep your expectations of the ice-cream Low though or you may walked out disappointed.

was browsing through a few credible sites/blogs/food reviews for my next Friday Supper Club location.
Criteria: to be a cafe budget average bill ard $12, a good spot to chit chat, GOOD FOOD! a rather comfortable ambience
I found review of Melvados through the Lady Iron Chef's website and decided to give it a try. O especially love the fact that this place is at Bukit Timah Road (love this area)

Smoked Duck Confit Oglio Pasta (spaghetti):

- Great combination of tastes. Eatting this transports me to the world of "Ratatouille" where the rat takes a bite of one ingredient and another bite with another ingredient, but yet it fuses together to create an "outburst of harmonizing flavors!"
okok, maybe not that exaggerated like in the cartoon movie, but this dish does a little excitement to your taste palettes. The bell peppers, smoked duck, olive oil, slight powdering of cheese, garlic,pepper is a nice concoction.
costs: $9.90
*eat it while its hot!

Breadbowl Beef Stew

It does not look that fabulous, but when you peel off the bread , dip in with the stew and take a bite of it, you would be pleasantly surprised!
conclusion:
The bread is toasted to perfection (at least it meets my standards)
It is nicely toast and crisp, but not hard on the outside, yet in moist and soft in the inside. Amzaingly, the stew does not soak through the bread, so i was quite happy that i do not need to be eatting soggy bread.
The stew is done quite well, more towards a Tomato-ish taste.
costs: $9.90

Fish & Chips

It came out looking plain and dull, quite short of standard. I tasted it feeling skeptical about it at 1st but ended off with a nod on my head.
It is not heavy like the usual fish and chips where they dip cheap dory fillet in thick batter and fry it to crisp.
This version here uses breadcrumbs, therefore it may look Shrunken in comparative to the usual fare of fish and chips, but i will say i prefer this version alot more. It is delectable and not "Gelad" (so filling tt u get sick of it)
I couldn't really make out the type of fish they were using as i took only a bite out of this dish, but 1 thing for sure, they do not use the usual cheap dory fillet.
costs: $8.90

Last but not least, the MUST HAVES!
BROWNIE!! what can i say? this is a Brownice specialty cafe, how can i give the brownie a miss?

Black & White Kisses with a scoop of ice-cream

i sunk my fork in it and devoured it unknowingly within a short matter of time.
Is it good? Well, i dunno what to say, maybe you should go try it for yourself.
costs: $4.90 + ($1.00 single scoop of ice-cream)

Overall conclusion:
Surprise find. I nice cozy cafe that serves great food at a affordable pricing.
A sad thing though is that this place is really really unpopulated. we were the only ones around.
This place definately deserves more publicity.
I will be heading back there and recommending people at this unpolished Gem.

I was expecting a small portion for that price but when the appetizers came, I was truly impressed! They didn't scrimp on the portions at all. But the scenical boyfriend says "wait till the mains come, I'm sure my steak will be the size of your palm". Lo and behold, he was proven wrong again with the nicely down steak served up in front of him.

Overall food was great, but the banana & pineapple crumble was a tad too sweet even for my liking..

One thing though, I was overcharged $8 for an item called "food", on top of my $27x2 set lunches. That was the only downside... Blame it on myself for not checking the bill before signing off on it... :P

was introduced by my dear sista Kara there on a saturday afternoon.
the Best DRY beef kway teow i had tried in singapore, admist the other well know and reputatable beef kway teow stalls.
Their gravy has a depth of different levels of taste to it,
unlike the usual ones with just a rather flat taste, this gravy gravy has the tinge of ginger, vinegar, spices.
the beef slices are very soft and tender, melt in your mouth
its really worth a try!
word of caution: their SOUP beef kway teow is not good though, it has a strong taste of MSG.
So, if you would like to look for good DRY beef kway teow, this is definately worth a try!

i was elated! i have been long awaiting for its opening! and sure enough, it did not dissapoint me.
The menu was good, location fabulous, and the interior is upkeep and cosy. The ideal spot that i was looking for!

Chicken and Corn soup with poached egg $6.90
Tasty~ delicious! slurp to the last drop goodness. The poached egg not done to the prefection as it breaks when u scoop it up, However, it does not matter to me as the taste of the soup still gets thumbs up from me.

Farm-style BBQ Pork Ribs $15.90
Quite nicely done, the meat does not stick to the bone. Meat is lean, yet juicy. The BBQ taste was well marinated into the meat. a little disappointed at the presentation though. Was looking forward to having my Pork ribs served in the granny's baking crockery with the baked veggies by the side as shown in the pic. But it came out as below with fries (fries was pretty good though)
Rosie's roast chicken $15.90 (good for 2 sharing)
Is not to be missed! this to me is the Must order main dish over there.
The chicken is so nicely done with the moisture still kept in the chicken. One of the best roast chicken i had and which meets up to my expectations.
- Salad with salmon and dill
it is absolutely an acquired taste item. I stopped at my 1st mouthful and could not bring myself to take a 2nd mouthful of it. Same goes for my sister who tried it with me
Whisk tiramisu in a cup
it was quite a disspointment for me. it does not even taste like tiramisu! and too creamy.
Apple pie with ice-cream
not bad, not too sweet, worth a try

Located @ a new foodie level on the 5th floor of Heeren, this restaurant hosts an concept of Old-time classics with a Modern twist.
Along side the Shanghai Music tones such as "wan bu liao, wang bu liao~" and "Tian Mi Mi" is complimented by the great service by the staffs.

Food Menu consists of Wanton Noodles/Chinese La Mien, as well as Ala-Carte dishes and desserts.

We had:

Stir-fried french beans in Salted egg-yolk, OMG!!!! this is simply out of this world! its SO SO tasty and flavouful. I picked a piece of the french bean and chew on it, the taste just exploded in my mouth! This is the main dish that i love and will make me come back for! a definate Must-try!

Original Roasted Duck (which is so juicy and crispy like suckling pig). Also accompanied with their light dressing of soya sauce drenched on it. Moist and crispy! Slurpz!

Claypot Chicken, which is just passable, the sauce is tasty, good to go with rice, but the chicken is just too bland. Flavour did not seep into the meat.

Brinjal done in Ma Po tou-fu style.

Redbean Milk-tea, DIVINE! Thhingg*** Oh my GOSH!! i felt like a kid who manage to hug a teddy bear it her arms! Such a familiar taste which i have been longing for. The red bean is nicely cooked like the nice mushy Japanese red bean, and the most amazing thing is the milk-tea.. its THAI MILK TEA!!! I LIKE!!!~~ nono, i LOVE!!!~~~ *warning: Ice Thai Milk tea is an acquired taste drink. U will either really love it or hate it. I has a tint of smoke taste. Not for the faint hearted.
Longan red dates tea- Not too sweet or heavy, just nice. Smooth to throat.

Overall had a pleasurable dining experience there with the great service and ambience from the old shanghai music. Only down side is on the unpleasant noisy Teenage crowds there have there because of the Location being at Heeren, we had a group of senseless teens screaming and shouting right behind us as though they are in a fast-food joint.

This is their 1st and only outlet.
They are going to open a Cafe Lounge named Whisk at Wisma Atir #03-15 (still rolling out the plans/in midst of construction, not opened yet)

hidden in a bustling small town of Ang Mo Kio,in a clean and renovated coffeeshop,it is interesting to find some kind of REAL American food over the stalls of so called western food stalls located all over the land.

Concept = Interesting, sets ur mind rather entertained to check what what's in store at this "AMERICAN food stall" desked in neon signage and their icon of the bald-headed man.

their menu, printed in black ink over a yellow background, is packed counting 6-8pages full. (i would say casual dining restaurant style menu content, but budget printed)place ur order at the counter, their staff dressed in the attention-grabbing Botak Jones uniform will attend to your table with the mustard,chilli, ketchup sauces in 1 hand, and ur cutlery in the other. unexpected service from a coffeeshop eattery.

Cajun Chicken- comes with coleslaw and chilli powdered friesReg size costs $7.50, Large priced at $13.00*note of caution: do not underestimate the HUGE portions they serve.shared a Reg size portion with my sis, we even has some leftovers.* Guys, even if u are confident of ur appetite, with a singaporean sized appetite, u will not be able to chomp down any more than the Reg portion for urself.
